How do I vote absentee?

KOOCHICHING COUNTY NOTICE OF DAYS, TIMES & LOCATIONS FOR ABSENTEE VOTING

The State Primary Election is on August 11, 2026, and is a partisan election that allows voters to vote for candidates of one political party and potentially nonpartisan offices to select candidates to move forward to the November general election ballot.

Absentee voting starts June 26th, 2026.  All Koochiching County voters may vote early in person at the Auditor’s Office during normal business hours (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday, except legal holidays.)  The office will also be open for voting on Saturday, August 8th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and August 10th until 5 p.m. Voters may also request that an absentee ballot be mailed to them.

The State General Election is on November 3, 2026.  Federal, State, County and other local races will be included on this ballot. 

Absentee voting starts September 18th, 2026.  All Koochiching County voters may vote early in person at the Auditor’s office during normal business hours (8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) Monday – Friday, except legal holidays.  The office will be open for the following additional hours: October 24th & 31stand November 1st from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and October 27th until 7 p.m.  Voters may also request to have an absentee ballot mailed to them.

The following positions will be up for election:

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the period for filing affidavits of candidacy for the City of Big Falls shall begin on July 14, 2026 and shall close at 5:00p.m. on July 28, 2026.  The following offices shall be filled at the November 3, 2026 City Election:

Mayor – for a term of two (2) years
Two Councilpersons – for a term of four (4) years each

Affidavits of Candidacy are available for the City offices from the City Clerk at 410 2nd St NW, Big Falls, MN.  The filing fee for each of these offices is $2.00.  All candidates must be an eligible voter, must be 21 years of age or more on assuming office, must have been a resident of the City of Big Falls for 30 days before the general election, and must have no other affidavit on file for any other office at the same primary or next ensuing general election.
